A Good Plan Starts With a Good Analysis

There is no undo button in real life and it is inconvenient. If you become too consumed with the ease of technology, then it can be frustrating when you do make blunders that can’t be deleted or erased with the push of a button or the tap of a finger. Instead, we have to deal with it the hard way.

A blunder is a misstep that creates unsavory circumstances. Dealing with the fallout from this take a great deal of time and effort, but most of all, it requires a clear head. When you are faced with a problem, the immediate reaction is to panic. After experiencing a flurry of emotion, you can now set your sights on a solution.

When you look at it, the preventive measures and the cure are actually the same things: a good plan. No one plans for a disaster because good planning will give you a good structure of what you should do. That doesn’t mean that things won’t go awry if you have something planned, but a disrupted plane can easily be remedied by restructuring as opposed to strictly playing by ear.

A good plan starts with a good analysis. A good sense of what the end goal is will help you to create a roadmap. Keep in mind that maps show different routes to take, each one takes you to the same place but would avoid or overcome different obstacles. A good roadmap (plan) will help you to achieve your goals, but would be fluid enough to accommodate any obstacles that might come in your way.

Keeping that in mind, you can work your way backwards. Break down your goals into large objectives. These are a few objectives that you need to accomplish to complete your goal. Once you have those sorted out, break those down into steps. If you end up with a lengthy list of items, then scrutinize what you have made. Remove the items that aren’t necessary because time is precious. After all, there is no magic eraser that can give you back the time that you have already spent.

When it comes to solving problems that occur along the way, you need to start with the causes. If you focus on the symptoms then you will find yourself in a rat race you can never win. Treating the root of the problem will save you time and pain.

By working your way backwards, you can reverse engineer a solution. It’s hard to know what the first step should be if you don’t have a desired result.
