Content That Makes Us React
What does good content do?
Good content, like all good things, is relative. However, exceptional work comes from creators who understand how to manipulate the audience. This isn’t necessarily with an ulterior motive, but creators have the ability and means to guide their audiences.
Knowing this, you should conclude that good content will inspire an audience to do good. Yet, it is so much more than that. The best content maps out a sequence of events that entangles the audience.
An audience is inspired by work that feeds off of their own needs. Being able to insert themselves into the work you publish creates an experience for them. It must have an emotional connection. That’s why it is so difficult to create work that resonates: there is no metric to show emotional connection.
Emotions are abstract. It is something we feel, something we can describe - but not something we can accurately measure. Art would be easier to create, but then it wouldn’t be art.
Creators will ask themselves how they can create something when we cannot truly find a concrete way to make it distinct from its opposite. To be precise, if you to know what is, then you must know what isn’t. If you want to create good content, then you must know what is bad content. It is easier to create a list of things to not do.
Bad content doesn’t inspire your audience. It has no resonance. This could be an intellectual or emotional resonance (or in some cases, both). Content is no good of it cannot satisfy a hunger for knowledge. Otherwise, your audience will move on. There’s no point in hearing an echo.
Inserting your audience as a character is supposed to draw them in. If your content keeps them on the outskirts of your message, then you are wasting your time and your audience’s time. Focus on something they can all relate to.
Everyone has tried to read a book that put them to sleep within a few minutes of scanning the pages. Think about why that is. Examine what makes content bad in your eyes. We have all experienced good content, and therefore, we have all experienced bad content. Why didn’t it connect with you?
Your audience most likely shares a few characteristics with you. In fact, your audience is really just a jury of your peers. They just so happen to pass judgment on your published work. Try your best to convince them that you are innocent of creating bad content.

Ideas and concepts should not just be keeping a permanent residence in your mind. The desire to create is not as satisfying as the feeling of completion. It takes a lot of honest introspection to look back at your dead projects. While scouring and sifting through the graveyard, pay attention to what you wanted to achieve and your reasons behind it. Better yet, make a list. It is important to pick one project as the main focus.Read More
Every artist, designer, poet and author is an entrepreneur the moment they start to sell their work. The problem is that most of them don’t know it. In some more perilous situations, they don’t know what to do about it. Most artists think of their work as art, which is fine (and technically correct), but it is also a product. Products are meant to be sold. Proper sales and marketing strategies are key to selling products.Read More
Sitting down to write just hours before it is due, writing only one draft, and submitting it is not the best practice. Racing against the clock leaves little to no time for revision. Those using this method often say that working fast somehow allows them to overcome writer’s block. Sometimes we work under strict time constraints – that is something to be said of all professions. In some cases, we believe that we can produce good quality work just before the deadline.Read More
Abstract art is a visual representation of a conceptual subject. When looking at an abstract piece, we do not see a realistically depicted subject, but rather how we perceive these things in a more transcendent light. Abstract art deconstructs the familiarity by which we can see and gives us a depiction that we must interpret. This can be a challenge for those who are more accustomed to lateral thinking and more contemporary forms of art.Read More
The best content comes from the informed choice of putting time and effort into creating something that achieves what you want. The quality of something is relative and this applies especially to things we consume. What is the point of buying 6-inch heels when you really prefer sneakers? Content for your business should engage your customers (and attract your potential customers) by providing something useful. At the end of it all, they should have something to take away from your business.Read More
