Everyone Has the Ability to Become Better
Some people are useless, that’s how we see them, right? Or maybe that’s how they see themselves. You can be your own worst enemy and it’s not a good position to stay in. Growth can’t be fostered if there is no inclination to grow. A plant needs to be weathered and fed in the right conditions before it can blossom.
Everyone, at some point in their life, needed to be cared for, but at what point should that end. Are there certain subsections of the population that are ready to keep their arms up in surrender? These traits are being attached to millennials because they are misunderstood as self-infantilizing, and to baby boomers, because they are stereotyped as and entitled. Millennials and the upcoming generation are seen as incapable of understanding “how the real world works;” meanwhile, the older sects of the population are unable to keep up with technology. There is no end to that.
In each other’s eyes, we are all helpless to some degree. Blanket statements that perpetuate stereotypes leave an impression. It can be internalized and then start off a chain of behaviors that mirror these traits. It might not be easily detectable in large sections of a population, but if a person is constantly subjected to conversations about how incapable they are, then they will start to believe it. Suddenly, they become the burden they probably never were.
These conversations need not exist externally, away from one’s mind, as you can develop your own self-defeating habits. The problem with these habits is that they are hard to break. Self-destruction is often slow, but it is hard to diagnose this yourself. It starts with self-awareness and plenty of online personalities or experts who advocate heavily for self-awareness and its miraculous benefits. What they leave out of the equation is how someone can fully realize their situation.
Inner-conflict and insecurities are abundant. So, nurturing your sense of awareness means building your confidence. That is the first step; without that, you won’t have the self-esteem to stand on your own and be confident when asking for help when you really need it. Building confidence starts with simple acts.
Even “superficial” things like an attractive appearance can improve your confidence. Being comfortable in your own skin makes you feel like you are literally putting your best face forward. This doesn’t mean that you should focus on changing your appearance by conforming to any unrealistic standards. All you need to do is take a step back to take care of your physical self. This extends to fitness and diet because a healthy body with facilitate a healthy mind.
Everyone has the ability to become better, and thanks to the Internet, we have many tools at our fingertips. Education is such an important thing for the soul, but of course, you can’t stay committed to learning without discipline. The more you know, the more you will be able to navigate a situation. Taking time to organize your time will make thing manageable.
